I have put in the work so that you can evaluate your options! I have joined all of the apps, endured the slew of emails or texts for a full year. I will post my results below for both food and retail stores. Most of these businesses have locations in Knoxville, online or close to Knox. Every year on my birthday, I'll test this out again and update.
Below is a list of food, retail and a list that I was TOLD gave rewards but I did not get anything. Give it a shot, maybe you'll have better luck! Notice, some businesses require you to not only join their program via the app but to opt in to email. I will do my best to note a few that I found. I did opt in to everything on most, just to play it safe.

The following stores I was told offer something. Some gave me a reward last year but not this year (2024). I give my experience, maybe you'll have better luck!
Ace Hardware - I’ve been part of their program for years. I was told they give a b-day reward but I have yet to obtain one.
Auntie Anne’s - I was told they give a b-day reward BUT you must spend a certain amount over the year. I didn’t get the reward due to this.
Buffalo Wild Wings - I was told they give a b-day reward via app. I did not get anything.
The Chop House - I was told about a free dessert w/ dine-in but I did not test this.
Connor's - I was told about a free dessert w/ dine-in but I did not test this.
Culver's - I was told you get a reward but I did not.
Dunkin Donuts - I have been signed-up via the app and emails for 2 years now. So far, I have not received a free drink offer, though many say they get these. I’m not sure HOW they get these. What I did get was a 3X rewards during birthday month for anything spent.
Firehouse - Last birthday I did get a free sub. This year, I did not. It could be because I opted out of emails, even though I kept the app. I opted back-in so that I can test that for next year.
Papa Johns - Last year I got a free birthday cookie cake. It was so good! This year, nothing.
Popeye's - Last b-day, I got a reward from them but this birthday, nothing. Maybe they changed?
Publix - I was told that they will give you free ice cream or something similar, no luck for me.
Smoothie King - I was told about a free smoothie but I didn’t get this.
Zaxby’s - Last year I got one of their cookies for free! This year…nothing.
